Fort Richardson State Park - Pictures of Nature & SceneryIf you visit Fort Richardson State Park in late summer and early fall, look for the beautiful Buckeye dotted along the roadways and hiking trails. Fort Richardson State Park - Budkeye Buttonbush tends to grow along the edges of the water. Although abundant within the state park, the beautiful creek at Fort Richardson was as dry as a bone due to the severe drought that seized the region. Fort Richardson State Park - The Buttonbush Tom and I have named this beauty, 'The Steadfast Tree' as it's resoluteness has contributed to its survival. Growing next to the rocky cliffs prevalent with Fort Richardson State Park, the tree wound itself away from the rock, then sprouted a limb in a position that allows it to continue to grow high above the cliff. Smart tree. Fort Richardson State Park - The Steadfast Tree There are many areas throughout the park with picnic tables. A large picnic area sits within a cove by the rippling creek that use to be - and will be again, as soon as the rains return to the area. One grill stationed within this area is absolutely huge - perfect for large groups and family reunions! Fort Richardson State Park - Big Grill
