Pictures of  Fort Richardson State Park - Officer's Quarters, Morgue, Barracks

The soldier's barracks is a rather crudely-crafted structure that held the most basic of necessities.

Fort Richardson State Park - Soldier's Barracks

The photo below illustrates just how rugged a night's rest might have been in yesteryear for the soldier at Fort Richardson. Odd how in today's world we pillow our heads on down-filled pillows and fluffy mattresses and find sleep hard in coming.

The rooms throughout the sleeping quarters contained several beds lending the impression that the room was shared by many soldiers.

Fort Richardson State Park - Morgue

Tucked behind the hospital is a reminder of just how dangerous the life of a soldier could be. The morgue is another crudely-crafted structure of stone and wood. Windows indicate the need for ventilation.
