FOSSIL HUNTERS IN THE GREAT
OUTDOORS
We'll get straight to the meat
of the fossil matter by listing some of our more productive sources
for fossil hunting:
- - near natural sources
- - quarries
- - road cuts - the fresher
the better
- - fossil hunting after rainstorms
- - dried creekbeds
- - embankments along walkable
creekbeds
-
Always make certain that you're
not on restricted lands, and that you have permission to fossil
hunt. Take
along basic fossil hunting tools such as a small spade shovel, pick
and point.
You'll also want to take along
a canteen of water and a first aid kit - just in case. Protective
glasses are also a must for fossil hunters.
Respect the sun - have fun!
