HIKING BEAUTY - Articles
& Great Hiking Tips & Tales
Depending on where you hike,
be prepared to see some awesome acts of nature! Wildlife is
very unpredictable and that's what makes it so awesome.
Although you don't want to get too close, there
are certain species that allow room for face-to-face encounters.
Walking Sticks fall into this category - and Tom and I were so fortunate
to happen across two very amorous Walking Sticks at the Pedernales
Falls State Park in Texas one hot July day as we were poking around
in the park.
The day was hotter than lit dynamite on a tin
roof. And there on the trail, almost - yet not quite concealed
from view, were two extremely long Walking Sticks getting mighty
frisky with one another.
On the side of the building resided a big
wad of walking spiders. When we walked by unexpectedly, they scattered
and it was quite a sight.
These are just a couple of
examples of the cool things that hiking brings to the curious onlooker.
Braving the heat and the frigid cold doesn't have to be part of your
hiking adventure.
The best seasons for hiking are early spring before
the heat camps in, and fall.
Spring hikes render wildflower viewing,
the eruption of butterflies, berry hunting opportunities, and the
magic of spring rainshowers.
Fall hiking renders brilliant foliage
viewing, bird migration and nut hunting opportunities.
