Camping, Tenting & Hiking are great ways to get back in touch with nature and your inner self... HIKING   - FOSSILS IN THE MIDSTA few years back, Tom and I went scavenger hunting  for fossils - one of our favorite pastimes. Lodged in the belly of a pitiful creek bed, we poked and peered, upstream and down. Tom was a bit excited as he was locating several good specimens. Unlike him, I can't sputter off foot-long scientific names, so I felt as I were a bit out of my element, even though I was producing some pretty nice fossils myself.   He kept spilling off long names that sounded more like dinosaurs than old rocks - which is what most fossils resemble, these impressions of things from an age gone by. Directly after he had rattled off a rather long fossil name, I came across a perfect flint rock in the shape of a seven. Either that, or it was the letter 'L'. Nonetheless, I held it up and announced, " Look!   I found a lucky 7!" to which we both laughed. My point is this... A hunter of fossils need not possess the silver-tongued lingo of a biologist, geologist or scientist. Fossil hunting is a fun activity that is heavily linked to the age of the earth and her impressive powers.   Though an identification book is helpful, taking along a friend to share the adventure is even funner!   Hiker From Hail | Hiking Horror or Hiking Haven? | Hiking - Slip, Sliding Away | Hiking Dangers | Hiking With the Bears, Alligators & Snakes | I Climbed, I Fell | Hiking Accessibility - Disabled Thousands of pages of free stories at Trinity Moon. God only knows what she saw, but she seemed quite satisfied," he went on, his eyes scorching over Lynx's shocked face.   click to read Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge: Photos & More click here Fort Richardson State Park, Jacksboro Texas: About Officer's Quarters, Barracks Nature Scenery Cactus | Cactus Photos 2   | 3 Hiking Trails
