SUMMER CAMPING IN THE GREAT OUTDOORS
Camping in the southern states,
or near the coastal marshy edges during the summer months can be unbearable.
I once fried two eggs on the pavement at a Texas State Park one
August night at ten pm.
However, if you're game,
the summer months can press some very fond collections of nature
into your memory bank that you can feed on for a lifetime. Even
southern campers delight when the sun climbs down to rest in a blanket
of stars for the night.
So grab that red or yellow wedge of watermelon
- with or without the seeds, those dollar
store thongs threaded
with daisies, and your straw hat for fun summer camping adventure!
Just
a few sights to look for while camping during those lazy, hazy days
of summer include:
Birds nesting, beautiful sunsets
so pretty that they'll make a grown woman cry, dancing fireflies,
songbirds chirping cheery songs during daylight hours which slowly transposes to a midnight
Cicada-Cricket serenade, wildflowers in bloom, turtles basking on
flat river rocks, bears breeding (well, this is a nature site),
frogs hopping for flies, and colorful butterflies dappling
in fields and meadowlands.
