EDIBLE WILD FRUITS, NUTS & PLANTS

Nature is abundant - but not always. Whenever you come across edible berries, fruits, nuts and plants, take only a few samples AND only if there is substantial substance on the bush, tree, plant or ground.

Why?  Because you may be innocently robbing a possum's persimmons, or a squirrel's nuts (oh my, this sounds very scary!).

Edible wild fruits, nuts and plants that you may encounter gathering include: mushrooms (know extensively about mushrooms before you eat or you may just clink over dead), pecans, hickory nuts, blackberries, wild strawberries, wild blueberries, dewberries, wild plums, cactus fruit (those spines can require a doctor's visit) (personal experience), and Hershey candy bars. Wait!  How did that included in the mix?  Oh well.

And as mother always lectured: "Don't eat nuthin unless you know what that nuthin' is."
