WILDFLOWER SIGHTINGS -
THE GREAT OUTDOORS
The word 'wildflowers' springs Spring to mind.
However, wildflowers aren't just for Springtime! Wildflowers
can be found most any time during the year in the great United States
- from regions were ice castles are born to hot burning desert sands.
One of my favorite wildflowers
is actually part of the cactus plant. Every year, we journey to
a spot in Texas where they grow thick, in a variety of colors -
from peach to blood red.
The insects are drawn to the flowers
and it's very easy to get a macro view. Both butterflies and bees
are also attracted to the cactus flowers and at times when the flowers
are thick, there may be so many butterflies that they light on your
clothing and skin.
Next time that you're out and
about, see how many wildflowers you can spot growing alongside the
roadways. Don't forget your magnifying loop just in case you'd like to get
a close up view.
